Description of Volunteer Areas

Advertising |
In November, volunteers contact present advertisers from our bulletin to see if they will renew for the next year, and bring in new advertisers where needed. |
|
Altar Servers |
For boys and girls who have made their first communion and would like to serve at any of the Masses. |
|
Baking |
Anyone who could bake for special events during the year and when necessary for funeral receptions. |
|
Baptismal Team |
Volunteers are needed to set up and put away baptismal supplies. |
|
Anyone interested in discussion of readings, either secular or spiritual. |
|
|
Children’s Liturgy |
Volunteers are needed to help with the children’s liturgy, which occurs during the 9:30 a.m. Mass. Your commitment is once every two months (if we have enough volunteers), and a meeting three times per year. First meeting will be held on September 12 at 7:00 p.m. |

Choir |
Anyone interested in music liturgy (instrument or voice.) |

Church Decorating |
Anyone who would like to be called to help decorate the church for special events, i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter. |
|
Coffee Sunday |
Set up and make coffee and tidy up after each mass. Please indicate which mass. We can use more than one person (rotating basis.) |

Cursillo |
Any men or women interested in going on a cursillo (like a retreat) for a weekend. |
|
Development and Peace |
Organization that helps the third world. |
|
Drivers |
We occasionally need drivers to bring parishioners to Mass. |
|
Eucharistic Ministers |
Volunteers are needed for all Masses. Training sessions will be provided. |
|
Glebe Center |
Visit seniors at the Glebe Center each week, Thursdays at 10 a.m. Arrive at Glebe Center for 9:30 a.m. and bring seniors to Chapel for Mass at 10:00 a.m. After Mass, return seniors to their room. Training is provided. |

Greeters/Readers |
Volunteers are needed to read the welcome or proclaim the readings at all Masses. Training is provided. |
|
Hall/Church/ Grounds maintenance |
Help when necessary for small repairs or seasonal upkeep. |
|
Kitchen Coordinators |
Anyone interested in learning how to use kitchen equipment and oversee kitchen functions. Training provided. |
|
Marriage Preparation |
The marriage course is offered four times per year. Includes a Friday evening and all day Saturday. Help is needed with organization of supplies, food, etc. We also need couples who would like to act as facilitators during the weekend. Training is provided. |

Nursery Program |
Volunteers needed to care for children ages 1-4 years. |
|
Office Help |
To assist during the daytime in the office. |
|
Parish Fellowship |
Occasionally when special events follow Mass. People are needed to assist with coffee and fellowship. |
|
Pastoral Care |
Visiting those in their home or the hospital. |
|
Pro-Life |
Anyone interested in the pro-life movement. |
|
Reception |
Volunteers needed to help with special receptions. |
|
RCIA |
(The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.) Anyone interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or those willing to assist in teaching those who are interested in becoming Catholic. |
|
Sacramental Team |
To help with children receiving Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation. |
|
Sacristan |
Set up and put away Mass supplies. Done on a rotational basis. Training provided. |
|
Sedar Meal |
Help set up and serve at Sedar meal held after Holy Thursday service |
|
Assistance with refugee/immigration affairs as well as St. Vincent de Paul. See volunteer form. |
|
|
Welcoming Committee |
Volunteers who will welcome new parishioners, explain activities held at Blessed Sacrament, and how they can help newcomers feel comfortable in the parish. |
|
Telephone Committee |
Volunteers to call a limited number of parishioners when we need the entire parish to be made aware of some specific event or information (no more than 20 calls.) |
|
Ushers |
Assist with ushering and collection during all Masses. Both male and female volunteers are needed. |
|
Valentine’s Brunch |
Assist with and set up serving at Seniors lunch |
|
Youth |
Those interested in helping at the Sunday 8 p.m. Mass and any youth related activities. |
